February Recap, Goals for March

Can't believe it is March already! February was a pretty good month for me, moving up from the 5's to the 20's and meeting my goal of making Platinum star after grinding 1350 sngs and making 1100 dollars with a 7.72% ROI. Of course without those two brutal days on the 26th and 27th I would have made 1650 with a 10.5% ROI but who's counting. Took the first few days of the month off as I was pretty beat from the rush to make Platinum. Played twenty 2 dollar 180 man tourneys on one of my "days off" and ended up getting 1st in one and 2nd in another BINK! Nice 130 dollars made while watching a movie.

Today was my first real day back. I played 60 20 dollar 9 mans and made $210 dollars- which felt really great after getting beat so badly on my first couple sessions at the 20s. I really felt good today, especially my HU ((heads-up)(one-on-one)) game where I went 12-3. You really can't get much better than that. 

Time to look ahead. In March I want to put in 1500 sngs. If all goes well that should put my bankroll at around 5,000 at the end of the month. Also I should earn about 20K VPPs which will leave me with just 70K to supernova. Well, have to go work my real job now. Have a good day, and gl at the tables.

Getting Pwnd

Today was brutal, couldn't seem to do anything right. Lost a little over 300 after playing 54 sngs. I lost 21 straight at one point and was down over 500. It was a combination of some bad plays on my part and a lot of coolers against extremely loose players. When I have top pair top kicker on the flop against someone with a VPIP over 40 there are almost no circumstances where I am getting away.
Poker is a sick game, and when you are running bad it will exacerbate any other problems you are having in your life. Today that is definitely holding true, and I am finding my self a little down in the dumps. The key is to recognize that this is a part of the game, and assess your mindset before returning to the tables. Downswings are going to happen, as long as you are playing properly and getting your money in good you shouldn't let them get in the way of getting the volume you want.
Tomorrow is the Battle of the Planets. For those of you who don't know this is a $50,000 freeroll for anyone who has made top 10 on any of the Battle of the Planets leaderboards. The format is a triple shootout which means that you start at a table of 2-9 players and the winner of that moves on to a second table of 9. The winner of that table moves to the final table of 9. Hopefully I will take it down tomorrow and the $12,000 first prize will make me feel better about today. Til next post, make admirable choices.

Goals for 2011

This is my first blog post, so I guess I will outline what I will be covering. I am returning to the online poker grind this year and trying to take things a little bit more seriously. This is especially difficult for me as I am a degenerate in every sense of the word. I have built a bankroll from 20 dollars to 3K plus multiple times, but always end up spending it all partying. This year I am hoping to change that.
I started with 550 dollars on January 21st and have put in 1500+ sngs at an 11% ROI starting with the 5 dollar and now all the way up to the 30 dollar sngs. Last week I took 5th on the Earth high orbit leaderboard as well as top 40 on the Venus high orbit. The leaderboards are weekly incentives for Sit and Go grinders (a sit and go is a tournament with 9-45 players that starts when it is full and ends when one person has all the chips) and are broken up by the entry fee for the tournament and the number you play in a week. The low orbit leaderboard is for blocks of 20 tournaments, and the high orbit is for blocks of 100. For the 9-man sngs you get 45 points for 1st, 27 for 2nd, and 18 for 3rd. I put up a 1575 last week for the Earth (10.00-19.99) high orbit. To put it in perspective 1100 would be breaking even. My roll is now up to 2200 and I am looking to hit 5000 by the end of March.
Yearly goals include making $50,000+, earning 200,000 VPPs and increasing my tables at a time from 16 to 24 while maintaining a solid ROI. If anyone is interested in betting against me I would love to take some action! Good luck at the tables! (except against me).
